An Artistic, Laid-Back Celebration at Hayfield Catskills

Some weddings just hit that perfect balance of personality, polish, and ease. Holly and Cam’s Hayfield Catskills wedding was exactly that — a day where creative details, deep connections, and a little bit of “weird” all came together in the best way possible.

We had the joy of helping bring their vision to life: refined without being too serious, intentional but never fussy. This wedding is for the modern couple who doesn’t want a cookie-cutter celebration but still wants the day to feel elevated, seamless, and full of joy.

Holly, a product designer, and Cam, a Unity engineer, met working at a small digital design studio about eight years before their nuptials. They’re both creatives at heart, with a shared love for art, trying new things, and exploring together — whether that’s a new exhibit or a new country.

Cam proposed during their first big trip post-quarantine, while in Portugal. He carried the ring around for days before finally popping the question at their Airbnb in Lagos. Just the two of them, followed by a dinner to celebrate. Simple, sweet, and very them.

When it came to their wedding aesthetic, they wanted to lean into the natural setting of the Catskills, while still feeling fresh, elevated, and a little playful. I can distinctly remember while discussing floral design that they wanted “elegant with a touch of weird.” Three Notch Florals nailed it. Think mushrooms and garlic scapes woven into arrangements — unexpected in the best way.

Let’s talk about the menu holder made of hand-sculpted pears.

Yes, Holly made it herself. She has a background in illustration and spent nearly a decade designing digital apps for kids. For her own wedding, she put her creative energy into designing all the paper goods, and the result was stunning. Every piece had intention behind it.

There are a lot of moving parts on a wedding day, but this one flowed beautifully. That’s always the goal — so the couple can focus on the moments and not the logistics. And this day had moments.

The absolute highlight? The dance floor. Cam’s family is Egyptian, and they brought in a Zaffa band to kick off the reception. It was electric. The energy was immediate and contagious. Later on, Cam climbed to the loft above the dance floor and indulged their guests with an impromptu dance performance. They ate it up.

That kind of joy and expression doesn’t happen in stiff, overly structured weddings. It happens when the couple is fully themselves, surrounded by people who get it… along with a team that’s there to support it all behind the scenes.

Here’s the takeaway: you don’t have to choose between elegance and personality. You can have both.

Want to incorporate your art? Do it. Want your florals to feature mushrooms or a nod to your culture with a Zaffa band? Please do. Weddings like Holly and Cam’s are a great reminder that the best celebrations are the ones that feel like you.

And if you’re wondering, how to pull something like this off without drowning in decision fatigue? That’s where we come in. We work with couples across the Hudson Valley, NYC, New England, and beyond who want their wedding day to be stylish, intentional, and even a little weird (in the best way).
